Operation Chillout, Tramontin Harley-Davidson team up to help homeless veterans

HOPE — Sometime in the winter of 2000, Ray Chimileski learned about a homeless man living under a trestle bridge in Dover. He found out the man was from Atlanta and had no family in the area.

Chimileski likely would have acted to help the man no matter the circumstances, but what really spurred him to action was the revelation that the homeless man was a Vietnam veteran.

Not long after, Operation Chillout was created with the sole purpose of helping the growing number of homeless and impoverished veterans in the state and surrounding area. It is currently active in 16 counties in New Jersey and the Stroudsburg, Pa., area, where it serves three surrounding counties.
