OPERATION CHILLOUT, based in Long Valley, is a grassroots interfaith coalition which provides emergency supplies and survival gear to those in need. OPERATION CHILLOUT is seeking new and unused clothing that will be donated to homeless veterans. Requested items included knit cap and gloves, wool/nylon blend socks, insulated underwear and hooded, zipper sweatshirts in sizes large and extra large. Proceeds from the event will go to fund New Jersey organizations Operation Shoebox New Jersey and OPERATION CHILLOUT Homeless Veterans Outreach. Information for members of the military, their families and veterans was provided by several organizations, including the Veterans Administration.

Somerset County Pipes & Drums Drummer Patrolman Richard Hartnett said: “When we see everyone come together to support and bring awareness to the Veterans, whether if they have a Veteran in their family or not, it brings a sense of humility, love and togetherness that makes this event a special family gathering, plus a great learning experience,” said John Shockley, Hillsborough Rotary Club president-elect. “Veterans Appreciation Day also gives the children an opportunity to learn about how our Veterans have served this county for years in the past and will continue to do so in the future.”
