Operation Chillout comes to United Methodist Church of Washington

Operation Chillout began as an interfaith coalition to help homeless Vietnam Veterans. From a single location in 2000, the nonprofit coalition has grown to a year round outreach providing emergency supplies, new warm winter clothing and survival gear to the most vulnerable homeless people in 12 N.J. counties and several towns in N.Y. and Pa.

This year the United Methodist Church of Washington is partnering with Operation Chillout for the 2012 annual winter homeless outreach campaign by collecting travel size or individual sizes of basic toiletries: bar soap, shampoo, chap stick, hand crème and deodorant.

The collection will run through Sunday, Dec. 9.

The United Methodist Church of Washington extends a warm invitation to all veterans and their families to worship with them as they begin this ongoing commitment to this wonderful program for men and women who have served our country.
